It was nice to get a mention on this Taiwan based site...

Artist + Artist: Episode 1 with Johnny Botts

I recently dreamed up the idea of creating a series of 1 on 1 interviews with bay area artists... My goal is to learn more about their background, process and inspiration... And in doing so, to also share their story with people in the bay area and around the world. Episode 1 featured good friend and fellow artist Johnny Botts.  Enjoy!

September 2014 - New Art. New Shows. New Site.

Hi, everyone.

I hope this finds you all well and that you're all ready for the month ahead.  My girls are back in school and are thankfully still too young to know or care about the "boys of Summer"... Though my oldest daughter insists she's marrying the boy down the street - when the time is right.

It's been a busy last few weeks with new work, new collectors and even a new mobile-friendly website... So... let the update begin!

NEW WORK - If the Shoe Fits

This new piece is the latest addition to what I'm now calling my Sweets, Spirits and Shoes series. As with many of my pieces the inspiration and title of the piece struck me at the same time... How many women out there know this scene all too well.  The search for the perfect shoe, either at Nordstrom's or in their own closet.

I'll also confess to having seen every single episode of Sex in the City, and the obsession for shoes that Sarah Jessica Parker celebrated during nearly every show was certainly in mind as I created this piece.

If the Shoe Fits has been well received, and I'm happy to say is already hanging on new and repeat collector walls in the U.S. and Europe.

If the mood strikes, and the shoe fits, I hope you'll consider adding this piece to your collection.

NEW CONNECTIONS

It was a great month at CITY ART Gallery in San Francisco and online via my Facebook page, where I connected with a lot of great people who had a real interest and appreciation for original art and artists.

I've often said there a many ways we get "paid" or "compensated" in this life, and some of the conversations I was lucky enough to have with people about my work both in person and online left me feeling very well compensated indeed. Yes, I love it when people decide to collect my work, but I also love it when people merely express an interest in or an appreciation for what I do.

NEW COLLECTORS

I had the great pleasure of delivering a limited edition canvas of my piece, Dolphin Detour, to a new collector in Marin recently. The piece was actually purchased by one of her long time friends and past collector of my work. I'm always so happy and grateful when people choose to give my art as a gift. And being able to hang the piece in the person's living room, above the mantle, was a special honor.

It's probably a good time to mention that if you live in the SF bay area and you decide to purchase one of my larger pieces, I am be more than happy to deliver it right to your door and even stick around to help you get it on the wall. :)

NEW SHOWS and EVENTS

I. Art for AIDS

We are entering the season of some of my favorite shows and events of the year. The first of which is the annual juried benefit art auction, Art for AIDS. I'm proud to say this will be my 4th year being invited to participate in this amazing event. Previously donated pieces included artist proofs of Here Comes the Sun, America's Cup SF and last year my piece Sausalito II.  This year I've donated a signed artist proof of my recent piece, Wine Train. If you live in the bay area and have never been to this event, I strongly encourage you to learn more and consider attending. Not only is it a great cause but it's a great opportunity to collect some wonderful work.

II. SF Open Studios [SAVE THE DATE]

This update would be incomplete without inviting you to Save the Date and join me for this year's SF Open Studios. I will again be a guest artist at Arc Gallery, located at 1246 Folsom Street in San Francisco. The opening reception is on October 24th from 6-9PM and then we will have open studios on October 25th and 26th from 11AM to 6PM.

NEW SITE

Last but not least, I recently relaunched my website with the goal of making it more mobile-friendly and also easier to view and purchase my work. I would truly appreciate your feedback on the new design.

To celebrate the relaunch I'm offering 10% off on all my artwork - and as always, Free Shipping. :) Just use special code "ILOVEART" during checkout.

THANK YOU AGAIN FOR YOUR CONTINUED SUPPORT!

TILL NEXT TIME...
