New Art - Sutro Flowers

While the rain pours down outside, I wanted to share my latest piece; full of Sunflowers, Poppies and Tulips. Sutro Flowers is my take on one of San Francisco's lesser celebrated icons. Standing 977 ft. tall, Sutro Tower is a three pronged TV and radio antenna tower rising from a hill between Twin Peaks and Mount Sutro.

Of course while my work could be considered representational I do tend to take liberties. :) And the exchange of tower and flower was too tempting to pass up. You may recognize some of the flowers from my earlier pieces; Here Comes the SunEden Before Apple and Poppy Love.

John Kraft: "Through the Fire - Remembrance"

I'm happy to share my latest piece, Through the Fire - Remembrance, which was created for the San Francisco Firefighters Cancer Prevention Foundation (SFFCPF). 100% of the net proceeds from the sale of this piece goes to the support the foundation and their efforts.

SFFCPF is dedicated to providing medically approved cancer screenings for the early detection of cancer in both active and retired firefighters.

Back in 2010, I had the honor of being selected as a SF Heart Artist for Heroes and Hearts, which benefits the San Francisco General Hospital Foundation. SFFCPF's President and Chairman of the Board, Tony Stefani, happened to be one of the San Francisco Heroes being honored that same year.

Fast forward to 2015, and I'm thrilled and honored to be working with Tony and SFFCPF.  Please consider purchasing this piece and lending your support. Thank you.

Crooked Street 2012 Malbec

A popular theory suggests that malbec grapes were originally planted throughout France by an adventurous Hungarian peasant. Given the Hungarian blood running through my veins, I am proud to present the 2013 Crooked Street Malbec, produced locally in the Napa Valley by the Hendry Ranch. Although most malbec finds its way into red wine blends, this bottle was produced from the single varietal alone, with nothing to distract you from appreciating what this famous grape has to offer. I hope you enjoy its dark violet color, light-bodied mouth feel, and soft tannin finish. So, as the Hungarians say when they raise their glasses... Egészségére!

New Work! Baseball by the Bay

Over the years many people have asked me, "When are you doing AT&T Park?" "When will you celebrate the SF Giants and their baseball dynasty?"  Well, I'm happy to say the time is now... After three months of work, I'm happy to say I've completed my latest piece, entitled "Baseball by the Bay". The composition celebrates the city of San Francisco, the SF Giants and the amazing people that make baseball in San Francisco so special. There is more detail in this piece than in much of my other work. And at the same time, it's not necessarily meant to be a 100% accurate representation of AT&T Park. It's far more about the spirit of the game, played by the San Francisco Bay, of those gathered on the field or in the stands or on their kayaks in McCovey Cove. Baseball by the Bay is available as a signed and numbered limited edition on both fine art paper and canvas. You can purchase this piece via this website, and I offer free shipping in the U.S.

SF Mayor Ed Lee at AT&T

Had the pleasure of meeting San Francisco Mayor Ed Lee while at AT&T Park this past weekend. Had a brief chat about SF Hearts. Very nice guy.

S.O.S. Save Our Smartcars

With the recent rash of Smart Car tipping, I was reminded of my piece - Parking Space... I've refreshed the composition here in a show of artistic support for those poor little defenseless cars being tipped over by vandals in the wee hours of the night! :)  View now in my online store.

Stay safe, little cars...

Till next time,

John

Team Oracle USA Wins the America's Cup!

It was amazing to watch Team Oracle USA win the America's Cup in what many are calling the biggest comeback in sports history. Some may not know, but I created my piece, America's Cup SF, before these boats (the AC72s) were even built.  I did my share of research to get a sense for what the boats were meant to look like, so when I finally saw them live flying across San Francisco Bay is was an amazing moment and experience.

I've been humbled by the overwhelming response to the piece, which is available as a limited edition fine art print on paper or canvas, and also available on range of clothing and other gear.

Till next time...
